Informations
Location
The Lauchernalp is located in a side valley of the Valais, in the Lötschental. Above the municipality of Wiler, at an altitude of 1969 metres above sea level, lies the beautiful sun terrace of the Valais. With a wonderful view of the Bietschhorn to the Lötschlücke. The holiday village can be reached from Wiler by the 100-passenger panoramic cable car, which was built in 1972 and has been renovated in the meantime.
Historical information
Until the Lötschberg tunnel was opened in 1913, the Lötschental was very difficult to reach. Much of its original character was therefore preserved in the valley, which was only opened up to tourism at a late stage. Concrete boxes and luxury hotel buildings still have no place here today, but instead original houses with aphorisms on facades decorated with ancient notched patterns. The Lötschental is therefore a real gem for guests seeking inspiration and relaxation in nature.
Community of Wiler
In the heart of the Lötschental lies Wiler, the perfect holiday resort for active holidaymakers and families. Wiler is the starting point of the cable car to Lauchernalp at 1,970 m above sea level. On Lauchernalp, a wonderful hiking and activity area attracts hikers of all fitness levels. But also in the valley, the "Gsteinät" recreational facility offers plenty of options for a successful holiday. The intact rural mountain village, surrounded by a wonderful landscape, is always an insider tip for all nature lovers, romantics and those seeking relaxation.
